Guess no one was listening to the haters.

The premiere of Jon & Kate Plus Eight came in with record ratings on Monday night.

The hour long episode, which was promoted hardcore and focused on the sextuplets 5th birthday and the media firestorm around the family and Jon & Kate’s cheating scandals, sucked in 9.8 million viewers, which is DOUBLE the audience that tuned in for last season’s finale.

Damn.

The event has become the most-watched episode ever on TLC and of the Jon & Kate series, no doubt in part to tension-filled editing and interviews of a clearly distant Jon and Kate Gosselin.

Well, we saw that one coming.

But we hope the rents can get it together for the kids. As captivating as a reality TV divorce might be for ratings, the family should be the most important thing!
