These two movies couldn’t be any more different.

Yet they’re both fighting for the first place spot at the box office this weekend.

Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs both grossed $36.2 million each over the past three days.

While Cowboys received generally favorable reviews, Smurfs was panned by critics. Luckily for them, kids aren’t too picky.

The other new release this weekend, Crazy, Stupid, Love, starring Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling, opened in fifth place, with a slightly better debut last week’s adult comedy Friends with Benefits.

As for the weekend’s top five, here is the complete list:

Whoa. This is something we would have never expected.

Amy Winehouse was allegedly preparing to adopt a 10-year-old girl from the island of St. Lucia.

The girl, named Dannika Augustine, and her grandmother say they met the singer during one of Amy’s visits to the island. Dannika was living in poverty with her single mom when Amy met her and took an interest in her.

Her grandmother Marjorie says that Amy told her a few weeks ago that she was planning to return to the island sometime next month. She said:

“Amy wanted to have a child so bad. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St Lucia completing the adoption process. There is no way she would have done what she did to herself if Dannika was with her.”

Dannika was devastated when she heard the news. Her parents had already signed off on the adoption. She said:

“Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me … She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

So sad.

It boggles our mind that Amy was really planning on adopting a child. She had a big heart, but she certainly didn’t seem like she was in the right mind to take care of another human being. We really feel for Dannika.

After abruptly leaving the stage in Houston and canceling another in Dallas, Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill and his bandmates have rescheduled their Texas concert dates.

As we told you earlier, Caleb left the stage during their Houston performance after complaining of the heat.

The band apologized to their fans, with Caleb’s brother Jared alluding that there might have been more than just heat exhaustion.

Thankfully, the band has rescheduled the two shows, September 21 in Dallas and September 22 in Houston. Tickets for the previous shows will be honored and refunds will be honored for fans who cannot make the new dates.

Good move, guys. The fans deserved a full show so this will definitely make it up to them. In the meantime, we hope you work on your issues so that this doesn’t happen again.

Besides filing for divorce, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Taylor Armstrong has even more dramz to deal with.

She and her estranged husband Russell Armstrong are being sued by the company MyMedicalRecords.com in the amount of $1.5 million for a breach of contract.

The company accuses the couple of pocketing more than $1 million from people who were mislead into thinking they were investing in the company. However, according to the company, the Armstrongs were using the money for themselves, like paying for interior decorating on their mansion.

Russell Armstrong’s attorney denies the reports, saying:

“My client has done nothing wrong and this complaint is a desperate attempt by a company whose stock is trading at four cents. These types of penalty lawsuits amount to nothing but legal blackmail.”

This is the last thing Taylor wants to deal with, especially while going through a divorce and dealing with claims she made that her husband abused her.

If the company that’s suing them is telling the truth though, this is pret-ty, pret-ty shady. Mo’ money, mo’ problems, right?

Justin Bieber posted a video on Twitter showing him punk various fast food drive-thrus, including doing a little something called “coneing,” aka the new planking. Have you heard of it? It’s the prank where you order an ice cream cone at a drive-thru and pick it up by the top of ice cream and then drive off. Yeah, that’s a thing, apparently.

Soulja Boy is more sensible than we thought!

Contrary to earlier reports that the 21-year-old was going to buy a $55 million private jet for his 21st birthday, a spokesman for the rapper denied the reports.

He said that the rumors “are not true,” adding, “the elaborate rumors circulating about Soulja Boy purchasing a jet for his 21st birthday are grossly over exaggerated.”

Soulja DID however have a lavish $300,000 birthday party at a Miami nightclub.

Mere pennies compared to a $55 million jet, but still pretty pricey for someone who’s had tax issues in the past. The more reasonable, the better, Soulja!

Well, they’re back together for a day.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver put aside their differences and spent Arnold’s 64th birthday together at Barney’s in Beverly Hills. The estranged couple put on a brave face as they spent the day with their children.

Good to know that they’re capable of keeping things civil for the sake of the kids.

The couple married four months after Jason divorced his first wife, Charlie Spralding.

Holy magic-making moneymaker!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 has hit the $1 billion mark worldwide.

By last Thursday, the movie grossed $296 million domestically and $630 million overseas. With this weekend’s box office numbers, the movie crossed the magical billion dollar mark, making it the 9th movie in history to do so.

The only movie to go past $2 billion was Avatar.

Don’t worry, we have a feeling Potterheads will make sure it joins the $2 billion club very, very soon.
