Good!! People NEED to know that this is NOT OKAY.

After the Itawamba school district in Mississippi decided to cancel their high school’s prom rather than let a lesbian student attend the dance with her girlfriend, they were slapped with a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union!!

The ACLU claims that the student, Constance McMillen, has had her First Amendment right to freely express herself taken away, and is asking that the U.S. District Court have the school’s prom reinstated.

McMillen says:

“All I wanted was the same chance to enjoy my prom night like any other student. But my school would rather hurt all the students than treat everyone fairly. This isn’t just about me and my rights anymore — now I’m fighting for the right of all the students at my school to have our prom.”

Once again, we can’t believe how much grace and strength this young woman speaks with.
